The Co-Sleeper® brand bassinet in bedside sleeper mode should sit flush against the parental mattress. Federal standards require no more than a 1/2 inch gap between bedside sleeper and adult bed. If you have a pletform bed you may not be able to use the bassinet in bedside sleeper mode. Limitations: The Co-Sleeper® in bassinet modes are only for an infant up to approximately 5 months of age or when the baby begins to push up on hands and knees, whichever occurs first.
